I'm Still Yours

This song is from Kutless’ album, It Is Well.  Kutless is one of my favorite bands.  The song is very reflective.  The writer wonders whether he would still follow God if his life didn’t work out the way that he’d planned it, especially in a negative sense.  This happens to people every day.  As they go through life their hopes and dreams don’t materialize.  Life takes tragic twists and turns that they never expected.  The result is that they get angry.  And bitter.  Discouraged.  Depressed.  Suicidal.  In this song, just like Job & David, the writer comes to a definitive answer, Yes!  I’m still Yours.  And I always will be Yours!  I hope that we can arrive at the same answer as we experience the difficulties of life.

KUTLESS - I’M STILL YOURS

If You washed away my vanity
If You took away my words
If all my world was swept away
Would You be enough for me?
Would my beating heart still sing?

If I lost it all
Would my hands stay lifted
To the God who gives and takes away

If You take it all
This life You've given
Still my heart will sing to You

When my life is not what I expected
The plans I made have failed
When there's nothing left to steal me away
Will You be enough for me?
Will my broken heart still sing?

If I lost it all
Would my hands stay lifted
To the God who gives
And takes away

If You take it all
This life You've given
Still my heart will sing to You

Even if You take it all away
You’ll never let me go
Take it all away
But I still know

That I'm Yours
I'm still Yours

Oh, I'm Yours
I'm still Yours
I'm still Yours

Lord, I thank you for all the things that You have given me.  Family.  Friends.  House. Vehicles.  Possessions.  I appreciate them very much.  Help me to hold them with an open hand.  If You should take one or all of them away, I pray that I would not become bitter.  Or angry.  Or depressed.  I pray that I would be thankful that I was able to enjoy them in the first place.  That I would still be willing to worship You.  Please know that no matter what happens that I’m still Yours.  And always will be.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
