We all know the greatest miracle of the New Testament, don’t we? The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. How about the Old Testament? Excluding the creation of the universe in Genesis 1, what would you choose? The Flood? The conquest of Jericho? David’s victory over Goliath? Elijah’s calling fire down from Heaven? Daniel’s rescue from the lion’s den? Clearly there are many miracles to choose from. As far as the Bible is concerned the greatest miracle in the Old Testament is the parting of the Red Sea. It is found in Exodus 14. It is also mentioned in Deuteronomy, Joshua, the Psalms and even in Acts & Hebrews in the New Testament. The miracle was significant for several reasons. It’s size (it affected millions of Israelites and Egyptians). It’s importance (it gave birth to the nation of Israel). It's spiritual application (what it says for our lives today).
In practical terms, the Red Sea miracle represents God’s ability to help us in the difficult times of our lives. Those times when we feel hemmed in by circumstances. Those times when there seems to be no way out. Those times when our future seems in doubt. The fact is that God always has a plan. A path through the sea of our difficulties. A way out.
I read the book and came away with quite a few valuable insights. It’s short. Bible-based. Applicable. Best of all, it’s the kind of book you can re-read multiple times.

Lord, thank you for the insights that we can glean from Your Word. Help us to realize that the same mighty power that parted the Red Sea is available to make a way through even the most difficult times in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
